Fire Crews from across Shropshire battled a blaze in Shrewsbury which ripped through a timberyard and destroyed offices close to a local pub.

The fire started just before 2pm on Saturday at the Timberline site, Coleham Head and drinkers were evacuated from the Seven Stars pub whilst fire crews fought for two hours to bring the blaze under control.

Two fire crews from Telford and Wellington were alerted to a fire in a factory unit on Hortonwood 60 Telford just before 11pm last night.

Senior fire officers are staging a major public exhibition on car crashes aimed at educating Shropshire motorists in the wake of a dozen drivers being cut free from the wreckage of their vehicles in and around the roads of Market Drayton.

A campaign has been launched throughout Shropshire to advertise Firefighter "taster" sessions that will take place in June. The leaflets and posters have been distributed to local shopping centres and businesses in the hope it will encourage people to consider a career as a Firefighter.

The "taster" sessions will be held on June 17 and 19 in a bid to attract more women and people from under represented groups into the fire service.

Technical training on fire alarms and automatic fire detection systems was the order of the day at a seminar organised by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and attended by fire safety officers' from neighbouring Midland brigades.
