Sally Barnett, a control room operator at Shrewsbury fire HQ, is gearing up with motorbike riders from across the UK who are aiming to raise over £4,000 for charity in their annual outing to Wales later this month.
Around 250 motorcyclists and pillion passengers aged from 14 to over 80 are preparing to set out on the 150 mile 9th Horseshoes Welsh Run from Shropshire to Llandudno on June 25.
Funds raised will go to their regular charities - the Shropshire Air Ambulance and more

Ten firefighters who cycled from Lands End to John O'Groats successfully and safely completed their journey at 7pm on Monday 15th May 2006 in support of the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund, Hope House Children's Hospice and the local Macmillan Cancer Relief.

The importance of fire safety in the home was the subject of an entertaining and informative talk to Lydbury North Youth Club by south Shropshire firefighter Tony Barnes.
The Leading Firefighter at Bishop's Castle told youngsters how smoke alarms should be fitted into every home and that they should be regularly checked to ensure they were working properly. TV's should be switched off at night and not left on standby. Smoking at home was also a cause of many home fires, he said.

A team of ten firefighters departed from Shrewsbury Fire Station on Friday for Lands' End where they began their gruelling cycle to John O'Groats.
The team made good time arriving in Lands' End at 5.30pm Friday evening where they completed the first instalment of their journey to Redruth, Cornwall.
Saturday saw the team successfully complete the journey from Redruth to Okehampton and yesterday evening saw the team reach Weston-Super-Mare.
