At 13:49 on Monday, 2 January, 2023, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Property Fire in Newport.

2 fire appliances were mobilised from Newport and Wellington. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Breathing Apparatus (BA)
  • Covering jet
  • Hosereel jet
  • Thermal imaging camera

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service and the Police.

Reports of a fire in one of the hotel rooms. Crews extinguished using 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets and 1 covering jet. 1 casualty suffering smoke inhalation left in the care of West Midlands Ambulance.
