At 01:03 on Friday, 16 January, 2026, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Smell Of Burning in Oswestry.

1 fire appliance was mobilised from Ellesmere.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Hosereel jet
• Rakes, shovels, mathooks
• Thermal imaging camera

This incident involved a large unattended bonfire. Crews used one hose reel jet and drag rakes to extinguish the fire.
