At 13:57 on Monday, 19 January, 2026, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Smoke In Area in Oswestry.

1 fire appliance was mobilised from Ellesmere.

On arrival crews found this to be a small bonfire.

Build bonfires well clear of buildings and never use flammable liquids to start the fire. Before you light the bonfire, check that children and animals are not hiding inside and are a safe distance away. Don't leave bonfires unattended. Don't light bonfires in unsuitable weather conditions.
