I am requesting information about fire training sites where AFFF (aqueous film-forming foam) has been used.

What I need:

1. Fire training facility locations:
– Address and postcode (or grid reference)
– Years operational

2. AFFF foam usage:
– AFFF products used (2015-2026)
– Date transitioned to fluorine-free foam (if applicable)
– Whether PFOS/PFOA-containing foam was used

3. Environmental monitoring (if conducted):
– Any soil or groundwater PFAS testing results
– Sample dates and locations

Format: Excel or CSV
Time period: 2015 to February 2026
Purpose: Academic research into PFAS contamination from firefighting activities

1. Fire training facility locations

• Address and postcode (or grid reference)

The Service does not hold a designated list of specific training sites where AFFF was used. Only a small number of estate locations were historically suitable for foam training, but AFFF‑specific site records were not maintained.

• Years operational

The Service does not hold operational year information linked specifically to AFFF use.

2. AFFF foam usage

• AFFF products used (2015–2026)

The Service previously used Solberg AFFF products until transitioning to Dr. Sthamer Moussol FXS FF 3/6.

• Date transitioned to fluorine‑free foam

The transition to a fluorine‑free foam product (Moussol FXS FF 3/6) took place during 2021–2022.

• Whether PFOS/PFOA‑containing foam was used

The Service used PFAS‑containing foams historically; however, the Service does not hold records identifying whether specific foam batches contained PFOS or PFOA.

3. Environmental monitoring

• Any soil or groundwater PFAS testing results

The Service has not undertaken PFAS soil or groundwater testing and therefore holds no results.

• Sample dates and locations

As no testing has been carried out, the Service holds no sampling information.
