Request detail

Is it possible to obtain information on how many fires there were in 2022 on farmland/woodland/countryside in Shropshire in 2022?

If possible I’d like to know the cause, are/size of the fire at its peak and how long it took to extinguish and the resources/assets needed to extinguish each individual fire and the cost.

Response detail

Thank you for your Freedom of Information requests.  Please refer to the attached spreadsheet for the information requested where this has been recorded. Please note Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service do not record the cost of incidents, however, an indicative cost can be calculated based upon the equivalent of the special services charges tariff for 2022/23 which is published on our website here: Special Services Charges 2022/23 | Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service. This gives you the cost per hour for the type of vehicle that attended. You can use this to calculate the indicative cost by using the time of the call and the time stopped mobilising hourly totals multiplied by the number of vehicles.
