At 18:03 on Wednesday, 6 August, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Worthen.

1 fire appliance was mobilised from Church Stretton.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Hosereel jet
  • Thermal imaging camera

This was reported as a heating oil tank on fire, on arrival of fire crews the fire was out. The oil tank was completely destroyed by fire, crews used 1 hosereel jet to dampen down the are and the thermal imaging camera was also in use.

At 17:09 on Wednesday, 6 August, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Bayston Hill.

1 fire appliance including the Incident Support Unit was mobilised from Oswestry and Shrewsbury.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Buckets of water
  • Hosereel jet
  • Knapsacks

This incident involved approximately 20m x 10m of hedge, trees and grass on fire. Crews used 1 hosereel jet, buckets of water and knapsack sprayer to extinguish the fire.

4 fire appliances including the Incident Command Unit were mobilised from Bishops Castle, Church Stretton, Minsterley and Shrewsbury.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Beaters
  • Hosereel jet

This incident was approximately 80m x 50m of grass and hedgerow on fire, crews used hosereel jets and beaters to extinguish the fire.

2 fire appliances including the Incident Support Unit were mobilised from Bishops Castle, Church Stretton, Ludlow, Minsterley, Shrewsbury and Tweedale. Operations and Safety officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Beaters
  • Hosereel jet

Fire involving approximately 80m x 50m of grass and hedgerow. Crews assisted by Mid & West Wales Fire Service.

Fire caused by bonfire which had spread to nearby hedge. Crews extinguished fire and gave advice.

2 fire appliances were mobilised from Oswestry.

There was reports of a fire that was lit near to a woodland, on arrival crews found a small fire smouldering, crews extinguished the fire with soil.

Build bonfires well clear of buildings and never use flammable liquids to start the fire. Before you light the bonfire, check that children and animals are not hiding inside and are a safe distance away. Don't leave bonfires unattended. Don't light bonfires in unsuitable weather conditions.
