At 14:12 on Wednesday, 31 August, 2016, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Oswestry .

4 fire appliances including the Incident Support Unit were mobilised from Ellesmere and Oswestry. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Beaters
• Hosereel jet
• Main jet

Fire involving approximately 100 SQM straw and stubble alight, strong winds have fanned flames and hindered progress so crews made up for extra resources as a precaution to protect nearby property. Crews have been using beaters and extended hose reel jets as well as the fogging unit from the Incident Support Unit (ISU). Damping down now in progress

3 fire appliances including the Incident Support Unit were mobilised from Bridgnorth and Telford.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Beaters
• Hosereel jet
• Main jet

Approximately 100 SQM of straw alight in field. Fogging unit from Incident Support Unit (ISU), beaters and farm machinery in use use, crews dragging aout and damping down.
