Arson attack in Shrewsbury

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service attended an arson attack at 3:51am on Monday 23rd May at Briery Lane, Bicton Heath, Shrewsbury.

It is believed flammable material had been pushed though the letter box of a property, igniting the doorframe. A male occupant was woken by the sound of the letter box opening, and raised the alarm. The occupants managed to escape from the building.

We would urge people to ensure that they have smoke alarms fitted to their premises and that they are tested on a weekly basis.

A joint investigation is being carried out by West Mercia Police and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service. Anyone who has any information about this incident is asked to contact Shrewsbury CID on 0300 333 3000 or crime stoppers on 0800 555 111.
