Cheque Boost for Blood Bikes

Cheque Boost for Blood Bikes

Chief Fire Officer, John Redmond, presents a cheque for £335 to the chairman of the Staffordshire and Shropshire Blood Bikes group, Chris Powdrill.

The cheque is part of the proceeds from a raffle staged by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service at its annual Festival of Carols at St George’s Church, Shrewsbury, in December.

The “Blood Bikes” charity is a volunteer emergency service that transports blood and other life- saving medical supplies to and from hospitals all over Shropshire and Staffordshire.

Shopshire Fire and Rescue Service provides Blood Bikes with secure storage facilities for its bike fleet at its Shrewsbury headquarters and at Wellington fire station.

After receiving the cheque Chris Powdrill said: “The fire service has been very generous in its support for Blood Bikes, firstly in providing us with secure storage at two of its fire stations and now with this cheque.”

John Redmond said the Service welcomed the opportunity to support the Blood Bikes volunteers. “They do a great job and, like the fire and rescue service itself, provide a vital, life-saving service.”
