Police appeal over Oswestry bin arson

Police in Oswestry have appealed for witnesses after an industrial-sized wheelie bin was set alight in an arson attack.

The bin was in a caged area in the rear courtyard of a block of flats in Castlefields and was some distance from the building itself.

Officers were informed by Shropshire Fire and Rescue just after 1am on Thursday 11th October 2012, after the fire was alerted by a member of the public.

The fire had been quickly extinguished on police arrival and no damage had been caused.
It is being treated as arson and police are investigating whether the incident is linked to previous rubbish and bin fires started in the area in recent months.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers number 0800 555 111, where a reward is sometimes offered.
