Tweedale Needs You

Call for more people who want to be firefighters to attend a drop in session at Tweedale Fire Station on Saturday (Sept 6th) to see if this fire kit fits you. Do you live or work within five minutes of Tweedale Fire Station in Telford ? Could you be an On-call Firefighter ? These are the questions being asked by staff at Tweedale fire station where a drop in session aimed at recruiting more firefighters is being held on Saturday, September 6 between 10am and 2pm.

Staff will be available to answer any questions people may have on becoming an On-call firefighter.

Fire Officers at Tweedale are looking to increase the number of people available to respond to a variety of emergency calls during daytimes, evenings and weekends.

On-call firefighters are men and women who live or work within five minutes of the local fire station and respond to emergency calls when available.

John Morgan, Watch Manager at Tweedale said: “We are hoping to increase the number of firefighters to join our team in providing  emergency fire cover for our local community and throughout Shropshire both day and night throughout the year. Applications from men and women aged over 18, and physically fit are encouraged.”

On-call firefighters receive a basic salary for being available with additional payment for emergency calls and training. Weekly training for two hours is completed at the fire station on a Wednesday evening.

Firefighters from Tweedale attended 152 emergency calls last year.
