A Shropshire town has the unenviable record of being the motorcycle death and accident capital of the UK, it was revealed today.

Proportionately there are more bikers killed and seriously injured in and around the picturesque town of Bridgnorth than anywhere else in Britain, says the Community Safety Partnership.

Just before 1am on Saturday 10 May two Appliances and an Incident Commander from Shrewsbury were alerted to a strong smell of burning and a smoke detector activating in Worcester Road, Harlescott, Shrewsbury.

On arrival Firefighters had to gain entry to a property through a first floor window using a ladder as no one could be raised at the address.
