An article in today's edition of the Shropshire Star has highlighted the success of efficiency measures at Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Substantial cost savings have been realised through Shropshire and Wrekin Fire Authority's Integrated Risk Management Planning (IRMP) action plans over the past four years.

This success has translated into a 16 per cent reduction in house fires and reduced numbers of injuries over the past two years.

Firefighters will show how they cut free motorists trapped in the wreckage of their cars at an open day being held at Craven Arms Fire Station on the 20 September 2008 (10.00 am to 3.00 pm) in an aim to reduce road crashes in south Shropshire.

A wide range of safety information will be available at the event as part of a public education drive launched by South Shropshire Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP), the Community Council of Shropshire's Preventative Services Team more

On Saturday 30 August 2008 Prees Fire Station held an Open Day/Recruitment Campaign which also included the re-dedication of the station by Mr Bill Ashley, a former Officer in Charge, following its refurbishment.

Baschurch has got its very own new fire engine – and the village's firefighting force is proud of it.

With less than an hour before last night's (wed) ceremony to officially hand over the coveted new appliance, Baschurch firefighters were called to their first incident in Shrewsbury to act as a back up for the town's crews attending a river rescue.

Become a firefighter in Prees – that is the call to men and women in the area from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The brigade is asking company bosses to encourage staff to become firefighters – and allow new recruits a small amount of time off to respond to emergency calls.

Retained firefighters from the village fire station attended just 17 incidents during the normal five day working week over the past year. They also attended calls out of hours.
