Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service received a hoax 999 call at 8.38pm Monday 7th October 2013 from a phone box outside the Co-Op in Lodge Lane, Bridgnorth.

The young male caller falsely reported a house was on fire in Beestons Close, Bridgnorth. Two crews from Bridgnorth and Much Wenlock and an Officer were called to the address.

October 4 - 6, 2013 Memorial Will Honor Firefighters Who Died in the Line of Duty During 2012 and Previous Years.

Every October, the Foundation sponsors the official national tribute to all firefighters who died in the line of duty during the previous year. Thousands attend the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service attended a report of a car fire at 10.04pm Sunday 22nd September 2013 at Rock Acres, Lilleshall near Newport. Two appliances from Newport and Wellington attended.

The fire involved a grey Audi A3 and is being treated as arson.

If anyone has any information about this arson attack they are asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The Fire Brigades Union has notified all Fire and Rescue Authorities, across England and Wales, that a strike is to take place on September 25 between noon and 4pm.

Street pastors responsible for a dramatic fall in drownings in the River Severn in Shrewsbury last night (Monday, Sept 9th) received lifesaving tuition on river rescues from Shropshire firefighters.

The church going volunteers, who range from the mid-twenties to retired, and include teachers, charity and health workers, learned how to throw buoyancy aids and lines from the safety of the towpath to firefighters in the water who are members of the brigade’s Swiftwater Rescue Team.

Shropshire householders are being urged to get their electric blankets tested for free by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service as part of an annual autumn fire prevention campaign.

Almost one third of electric blankets were condemned as a dangerous fire safety risk after they failed the same test last year, revealed the brigade’s Community Fire Safety team.

They have linked up with Shrewsbury’s RMW Electrical to offer free tests at fire stations in Oswestry, Church Stretton and more
