The call was made from the telephone kiosk in Mount Pleasant Road near the shops.

Specialist rescue crews from Shrewsbury, Telford and Wellington carried out a dramatic rescue on the River Severn last week in Coalport.
A couple had gotten into difficulty in their hire canoe after it hit a rock and capsized. The incident happened about 400m downstream from the Woodbridge Public House.
The alarm was raised when people at the nearby caravan park heard cries for help.

Fire service colleagues (past and present) will no doubt be sad to learn that retired firefighter David (‘Chalky’) White passed away at the Princess Royal Hospital on Monday 22nd July following a recent illness.
Chalky transferred from Derbyshire Fire Service in 1972 and served at Tweedale Fire Station (day-crewed) for many years prior to retiring at Telford Central Fire Station in 1992.
His funeral service will be held at Telford Crematorium on Tuesday 30th more
