Four disposable BBQ's in a no BBQ area have been extinguished by Fire Service Personnel.

At 15:07 on Sunday, 17 August, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Smoke In Area in Shrewsbury .

1 fire appliance including the Incident Support Unit was mobilised from Minsterley.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Hosereel jet
• Thermal imaging camera

This incident involved an area of grass field approximately 35m x 35m which was extinguished by crews using two hosereel jets and one fogging unit to damp down hotspots. Crews also used one thermal imaging camera.

At 17:31 on Friday, 15 August, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Whitchurch.

3 fire appliances including the Incident Support Unit were mobilised from Market Drayton, Prees, Wem and Whitchurch. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Hosereel jet

Fire involved approximately 400m x 100m of grass and undergrowth. Fire caused by unattended bonfire. Crews extinguished fire using 1 extended hosereel jet and fogging unit from Incident Support Unit.

Field Of Straw

At 09:30 on Thursday, 14 August, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Field Of Straw in Claverley.

13 fire appliances including the Incident Command Unit, the Incident Support Unit, the Light Pumping Unit and the Water Carrier were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Craven Arms, Market Drayton, Newport, Shrewsbury, Telford Central and Tweedale. Operations, Safety, Principal and Specialist Advisor officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Beaters
• Hosereel jet
• Shovels/Forks/Brooms

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Police.

Incident involves approximately 2 hectares of grass. Crews have extinguished fire and utilised use of the drone to check area for hot spots and fire spread. Assistance given by Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service and Hereford & Worcester Fire & Rescue Service.

At 12:15 on Tuesday, 12 August, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Telford.

4 fire appliances including the Incident Support Unit were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock, Newport, Shrewsbury, Telford Central and Tweedale. Operations and Specialist Advisor officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Beaters
• Breathing Apparatus (BA)
• Hosereel jet

200m X 100m of Gorse and Grass alight. Beaters, 4 x Hose reel jets, 3 x 45m jets and 2 fogging units utilised off the incident support units used to tackle the fire. Drone also in use to check for further fire spread.

At 21:16 on Saturday, 9 August, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire In Open in Telford.

2 fire appliances including the Incident Command Unit, the Incident Support Unit and the Water Carrier were mobilised from Baschurch, Bridgnorth, Newport, Telford Central and Tweedale. Operations, Principal and Specialist Advisor officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Hosereel jet
• Main jet

Also at the scene of the incident were: Telford and Wrekin Council.

Fire involving an area of trees and undergrowth on the Wrekin measuring approximately 20 meters by 15 meters. Crews have extinguished the fire using hose reel jets and main jets supplied by water from the water bowser. Assistance provided by local farmer and landowners. Fire service drone used to assess affected areas and thermal imaging cameras used to monitor temperatures. West Midlands Search and Rescue team alongside Telford & Wrekin Council have been in attendance to alert the public to hazards.

Reports of a bonfire which had spread to dry grass in fields. The fire was out on arrival of crews, but crews dampened down the surrounding area with a fogging unit from the Incident Support Unit.
