Barn Fire

At 10:51 on Monday, 1 May, 2023, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Barn Fire in Ludlow.

2 fire appliances including the Light Pumping Unit and the Water Carrier were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Cleobury Mortimer and Ludlow. Operations and Fire Investigation officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Breathing Apparatus (BA)
• Covering jet
• Ground monitor
• Hosereel jet
• Main jet
• Rakes, shovels, mathooks
• Small gear
• Thermal imaging camera

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Police.

Accidental fire in outbuilding involving propane cylinders. Crews removed and cooled cylinders. Fire extinguished using hosereel jets, covering jets and main jet and all electrics have been isolated by fire service personnel.

This incident was caused by a faulty air compressor which caused heavy smoke logging. Crews used two breathing apparatus, one main jet, one covering jet and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish.
