Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service works hard to promote equality and diversity within the organisation and this year’s International Women’s Day 2013 is a great opportunity to celebrate women’s rights both in and out of the workplace.
On 8 March each year around the world International Women’s Day is celebrated. International Women’s Day has been observed since the early 1900’s; it is an opportunity to recognise how the equal rights of women have progressed and to celebrate the achievements while remaining vigilant and tenacious for further viable change.
Many events will be taking place to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women.
The following events will be taking place locally:
International Women’s Day celebrate and fundraise with Oxfam at Louise House , Roman Road, Meole Brace, Shrewsbury.
Cabaret and social night at Old Chapel Community Centre, Cross Houses.
Day of celebration with film, theatre, discussions, stalls and music at The Shropshire Wildlife Trust in Shrewsbury.
Playback drama workshop at The Hive, 5 Belmont in Shrewsbury.
Please see attached flyers for further details about these events. Note you may need to book tickets in advance.
Remember to do your bit to ensure that the future for girls is bright, equal, safe and rewarding.
