Response detail

Thank you for your patience.
Please find attached our response to your request for information regarding fires at waste sites.
The Service’s incident recording system does not consistently distinguish between permitted and unpermitted waste management sites. Consequently, the requested breakdown by environmental permit status is not held in a form that can be reported reliably. The Service therefore does not hold recorded information that would enable a reliable classification of incidents by permit status for the periods requested.
The information we have been able to identify is shown in the attached spreadsheet. The figures provided were identified using recorded property types and a review of the associated incident descriptions and closing messages. Vehicle incidents were included only where the available record confirmed that the vehicle was carrying or collecting waste.
