Members are asked to elect a Chair for the ensuing year.

There will be a vote of thanks for Councillor Raj Mehta from Telford & Wrekin Council, who left the Fire Authority in May. The Fire Authority will welcome Councillor Eileen Callear from Telford & Wrekin Council to her first meeting.

Members are reminded that they must not participate in the discussion of, or voting on, any matter, in which they have a Disclosable Pecuniary Interest and should leave the room prior to commencement of the debate.

This report, attached marked 6f, reviews the Fire Authority’s Standing Orders for the Regulation of Proceedings and Business, Financial Regulations; Standing Orders relating to Contracts and the Scheme of Delegation to Officers and asks Members to agree any proposed amendments.

This report, attached marked 6b, requests approval of the Terms of Reference for the Fire Authority and also asks the Fire Authority to agree the constitutions of its Committees.   There will be a short adjournment at this point to allow the appointed committees to discuss their nominations for their Chairs and Vice-Chairs

This report provides a summary of the key matters considered by the Committee and highlight issues for onward reporting and consideration by the Fire Authority.

This report, attached marked 15, presents for formal approval and adoption a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Shropshire and Wrekin Fire and Rescue Authority and the recognised Employee Representative Bodies (ERBs), namely the Fire Brigades Union (FBU), Fire and Rescue Services Association (FRSA), Fire Leaders Association (FLA) and UNISON.

Members have a discretion to exclude the press and public from meetings of the Fire Authority in defined circumstances.  In view of the nature of business to be transacted, it is recommended that under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, having been satisfied in all the circumstances of the case that the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing this information, that Members formally resolve that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972.
