Fire Authority

Members are reminded that they must not participate in the discussion or voting on any matter, in which they have a Disclosable Pecuniary Interest, and should leave the room prior to the commencement of the debate.

Members are asked to elect a chair to hold office for the remainder of the municipal year. The outcome of the election of the Chair may require the membership of Committees to be reviewed and amended in line with the Fire Authority’s constitution.

This report, attached marked 4, covers the improvements that the Service is making to its operational training facilities at Telford, and the interim arrangements that are in place to maintain firefighter competence until permanent facilities are delivered in 2027. Members are asked to recommend approval of costs for two further breathing apparatus initial training courses at the Fire Service College to support these interim arrangements.

Members have a discretion to exclude the press and public from meetings of the Fire Authority in defined circumstances. In view of the nature of business to be transacted, it is recommended that under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, having been satisfied in all the circumstances of the case that the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing this information, that Members formally resolve that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1, 2, and 3 Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972.
