At 20:52 on Monday, 6 October, 2025, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Property Fire in Shrewsbury.

6 fire appliances including the Aerial Ladder Platform, the Incident Command Unit and the Welfare Unit were mobilised from Baschurch, Church Stretton, Minsterley, Shrewsbury and Telford Central. Operations, Safety and Principal officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Breathing Apparatus (BA)
• Hosereel jet
• Main jet
• Thermal imaging camera

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Highways Agency, the Land Ambulance Service and the Police.

At 01:56 on Saturday, 21 October, 2023, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Barn Fire.

12 fire appliances including the Heavy Pumping Unit, the Incident Command Unit, the Light Pumping Unit, the Water Carrier and the Welfare Unit were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Hodnet, Newport, Prees, Shrewsbury, Telford, Tweedale and Wellington. Operations and Safety officers were in attendance.

This incident involves 1 barn measuring 30m x 40m containing 200 tonnes of hay, which is fully involved in fire.

At 04:42 on Wednesday, 4 October, 2023, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Barn Fire in Cleobury Mortimer.

11 fire appliances including the Incident Command Unit, the Light Pumping Unit, the Water Carrier and the Welfare Unit were mobilised from Bishops Castle, Bridgnorth, Church Stretton, Cleobury Mortimer, Craven Arms, Much Wenlock, Newport, Telford and Tweedale. Operations and Safety officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Hosereel jet
• Main jet

One barn approx 60 x 20 m, containing 300 tonnes of straw and hay alight. All severely damaged by fire. One water curtain, one 45 mm jet, hydrant and inflatable dam in use. Fire crews remain in attendance for watching brief.

At 20:09 on Monday, 12 June, 2023, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Barn Fire in Shrewsbury.

3 fire appliances including the Aerial Ladder Platform, the Light Pumping Unit, the Rescue Tender, the Water Carrier and the Welfare Unit were mobilised from Minsterley, Shrewsbury and Wellington. Operations and Fire Investigation officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• Breathing Apparatus (BA)
• Hosereel jet
• Main jet

Also at the scene of the incident were: a utility company.

This incident involved a barn building of brick and timber construction approx 25m x 25m. Crews used 6 breathing apparatus, 4 main jets and 2 hose reel jets to extinguish. The Aerial Ladder attended to reinspect the property.

This incident was a fire in building, six breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and one main jet were used to extinguish.

Building fire, crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one main jet, one covering jet and positive pressure ventilation to extinguish.

At 12:33 on Saturday, 28 August, 2021, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Barn Fire in Baschurch.

4 fire appliances including the Light Pumping Unit, the Water Carrier and the Welfare Unit were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Craven Arms, Hodnet, Newport and Shrewsbury. Operations, Fire Investigation and Principal officers were in attendance.

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Police.

Fire Crews from Shrewsbury and Hodnet were mobilised to a serious Barn fire in Baschurch, 12:33hrs (28/08/2021), supported by specialist resources from Bridgnorth, Craven Arms and Command Officers. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, a person was declared deceased at the scene. Group Manager Lee Baker said: “We are working closely with West Mercia Police to determine the circumstances of the fire and what led to the tragic event. Our gratitude goes out to those that supported the emergency services and thoughts are with those affected at this difficult time."
