LGV Fire

M54 Westbound Jct 3 - 4

Station ground: Telford Central

At 04:58 on Friday, 5 February, 2021, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as LGV Fire.

3 fire appliances were mobilised from Albrighton, Telford Central and Wellington. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Hosereel jet
  • Thermal imaging camera

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Highways Agency.

Crews have attended a second lorry on M54 with brakes on fire. Fire extinguished using 2 hose reel jets and thermal imaging camera to monitor temperatures. M54 hardshoulder and lane 1 are closed whilst the crews deal with the incident.

M54 Westbound Junction 3 to Junction 4 Telford

3 fire appliances were mobilised from Albrighton, Telford and Wellington. An Operations officer was in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

  • Hosereel jet

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Highways Agency.

Incident involved lorry and trailer overheated brakes causing the tyres to explode. Crews have reduced the heat of the brakes to an ambient temperature using 2 hose reel jets.
