The recommendations at item 6 of the Committee minutes will be considered as part of item 10 on the agenda for this meeting.

Please note that Appendix B to paper 5b (Capital Programmes 2023/24 to 2027/28, Treasury Management Statement and Capital Strategy) is an exempt document.  It will, therefore, be necessary to move into closed session at this point to consider the recommendation relating to this appendix (paper 9).

06 Exclusion of Press and Public

Members have a discretion to exclude the press and public from meetings of the Fire Authority in defined circumstances.  In view of the nature of business to be transacted, it is recommended that under Section 100 (A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, having been satisfied in all the circumstances of the case that the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing this information, that Members formally resolve that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information, as defined in Paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972.

07 Meeting Schedule 2023

A schedule of proposed dates for 2023 meetings of the Fire Authority and its committees is attached marked 7, for approval.

It is intended that this is revisited at the Annual Meeting of the Fire Authority in June 2023, as new Members may have been appointed, following the Annual Meetings of Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire Councils.  At this time officers will present a schedule from June 2023 to May 2024, which will tie in with the meeting schedules of the two constituent authorities.

06 Exclusion of Press and Public

Members have a discretion to exclude the press and public from meetings of the Fire Authority in defined circumstances.  In view of the nature of business to be transacted, it is recommended that under Section 100 (A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, having been satisfied in all the circumstances of the case that the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing this information, that Members formally resolve that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information, as defined in Paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972.

14 Firefighters' Pension Scheme - Dealing with Immediate Detriment Cases

This report, to follow marked 14, is presented in relation to the Firefighters Pension Schemes and payments made as part of the Immediate Detriment remedy. The report provides an update and overview of the current position, in order for the Authority to make an informed decision as to whether to use the Local Government Association (LGA) and Fire Brigades Union (FBU) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and associated framework to make payments to members in scope for Immediate Detriment.

07 Meeting Schedule 2022

A schedule of proposed dates for 2022 meetings of the Fire Authority and its committees is attached marked 7, for approval.

It is intended that this is revisited at the Annual Meeting of the Fire Authority in June 2022, as new Members may have been appointed, following the Annual Meetings of Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire Councils.  At this time officers will present a schedule from June 2022 to May 2023, which will tie in with the meeting schedules of the two constituent authorities.
