Meet Paul  

Paul has been in the Fire Service for more than thirty years and is still enjoying his career with Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS). 

In 1991 Paul was working a chef and felt stuck in a rut, in need of a new challenge. 

“I looked at the role of a firefighter as a job with high esteem, good pay, security and with a lot of job satisfaction,” he said.

Meet Watch Manager Katie, who has been in the fire service for twenty years. 

Katie joined in 2004, leaving behind her role in the ambulance service for a different kind of challenge. She went on to become a firefighter serving in both Wellington and Shrewsbury Fire Stations.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is issuing a plea to the public to take care on the roads after firefighters attended four fatal collisions in one week.

Laura Kavanagh-Jones from SFRS’s Prevention team said:
