Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service will be celebrating 75 years of making Shropshire safer with a historical exhibit open to the public.

The collection will be displayed at the Service’s open day at Shrewsbury Fire Station on Saturday 2nd September and throughout the rest of the month.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is supporting World Drowning Prevention Day.

Today (July 25th) marks The World Health Organization’s World Drowning Prevention Day which aims to raise awareness of the of the hazards of water.

Drowning has caused more than 2.5 million deaths in the last decade and globally the highest drowning rates occur among children aged between one and four followed by children between five and nine-years-old.

3 firefighters from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service will be setting off on a gruelling 1000-mile bike ride from Land’s End to John o’ Groats on Thursday 20 July.

Rob Simcox (Shropshire), Alec Thomas (Shropshire) and Russ Brown (Staffordshire) are undertaking the journey to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and The Fire Fighters Charity.

Actions taken in the first few moments after a collision can be crucial in minimising injuries and can make a real difference to the lives of those involved. But there can be some uncertainty about what to do in these situations.

Look and Refer training is free fire safety in the home awareness training available to everyone, but with a focus on those who visit/support/care for people in the community e.g carers, volunteer groups, partner agency professionals.

This is an interactive session led by one of our Prevention Officers helping to identify any fire risks within the homes you work in or visit.
