Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is celebrating Black History Month by signing a charter aimed at combating racism In the public sector.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging the public to avoid flood water following heavy rainfall today (Friday 20th October).

The MET Office have release a Yellow Weather Warning for continued heavy rain throughout today and the Service is asking the public to follow the following guidance:

  • Do not drive through flood water- it can be deeper than it appears
  • Do not walk through flood water- hazards may be hidden under the surface of the water

Two teams from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service took part in the National Breathing Apparatus Challenge (NBAC) on Saturday 7 October at the Fire Service College in Gloucestershire. The NBAC is an annual competition designed to test firefighters’ from around the UK on their breathing apparatus and ground crewing abilities.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is tackling a serious barn fire in Cleobury Mortimer this morning (Wednesday 4th October).

The Service was called at 4.42am to reports that a large barn around 160ft by 40ft was on fire and several crews attended including  Bishops Castle, Bridgnorth, Church Stretton, Cleobury Mortimer, Craven Arms, Much Wenlock, Newport, Telford and Tweedale.

Theatre Severn hosted a long service and good conduct awards ceremony last night (Monday 2 October) for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) staff.

Honoured on the night were 42 recipients of the Long Service and Good Conduct, presented to employees in recognition of 20, 30 or 40 years of exemplary service.

Last night (Monday 11th September) Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury hosted an evening of awards and celebration for the latest batch of on-call and control operator firefighters to join Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Friends and family were invited along to see the 23 firefighters receive their certificates, with a select few being awarded the silver axe for top student on their course.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) has launched its annual Chimney Safety Campaign today (Monday 4th September) and is urging people to consider the safety of their chimneys.

There were 35 chimney fires in Shropshire between November 2022 and March 2023- compared to 29 in the same time period in 2021/2022.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service can confirm we have attended a collision in the early hours this morning where two people have sadly died.

The Service was called at 2.09am to reports of a one car collision on the A442 junction in Trench. Crews from Telford and Wellington attended along with colleagues from the police and ambulance service.

Two of the occupants were tragically pronounced deceased at the scene while two others were taken to hospital by ambulance.
