His Majesty’s Inspectorate for Constabularies and Fire and Rescue Services’ released a report on Culture and Values within the fire service yesterday (Thursday 30 March).

The report highlighted concerning findings of bullying and harassment within the fire sector nationally.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service has announced they will be deploying body worn cameras in certain operations. The equipment is expected to be introduced over the next couple of months.

Footage will be used for purposes of incident monitoring, fire investigation and fire safety enforcement and will be assigned to incident commanders, training instructors and Protection Officers.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service can sadly confirm we attended a fatal fire in Oswestry yesterday (Wednesday 11 January) .

The Service was called at around 3.20pm to reports of a fire at a property in Gobowen after a resident heard the snoke alarms activating. Crews from Oswestry, Ellesmere and North Wales attended. Despite the best efforts of firefighters a man died at the scene and our thoughts are with his loved ones during his difficult time.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) officer has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for Services to the Fire Service in The King’s New Year Honours List for 2023.

Station Manager Tom Hatfield joined Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service in 2005 following military service with the Royal Engineers. Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is deeply saddened that two people have died in a house fire in Oswestry and offer deepest sympathy to their loved ones.

The Service was called at approximately 4.20am today (Wednesday 14 December) to Glentworth Close, Oswestry, and crews from Ellesmere and Oswestry attended alongside an appliance from North Wales Fire Service.
